I have been bullied since I was a kid and beaten up verbally in multiple abusive relationships. I am now an adult and think I may have a personality disorder. I am overly reactive and overly emotional when someone upsets me, triggers me, or disrespects me and I freak out and cannot seem to control my responses. I get into trouble and conflicts with people frequently enough (or over the years I have) because I cannot control my emotional responses when someone upsets me. I overreact and get really upset and then explode on the person. Is this a disorder??

Whether or not you have a personality disorder, or perhaps a few symptoms of one, these things are bothering you and affecting your life. I would highly recommend a therapist to address these issues, and try not to focus too much on the labels.

Thank you. I do have a therapist and I plan on addressing it there, too. I just feel I cannot control my emotional responses sometimes and I feel out of control. :/
