Does anyone have experience with Histrionic Personality disorder? I've never heard it before but came across an online test for it.. a lot of the questions related to the behaviours I've been seeing in my partner.. so I did this test on him and the results went into the red.

Please don't respond about how we're not psychologists and can't diagnose.. etc. I get that. I'm just looking for feedback from your experiences.

I find it really confusing that my partner's behaviours coincide with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and now Histrionic Personality Disorder. I'm assuming there's an overlap or it's all me.. ?

I believe they overlap. All three. They are both Cluster B. So they fall into same category

I knew two people with BPD, formally diagnosed. Both exhibited sighs of other PDs. I know people with tendencies and traits of different PDs. (Suggested by professionals) Might not be formal diagnosis

And I often read how some people describe their partners on these forums and they often appear to have combination of these PDs.

So I’d say your partner might have a combination of traits

Today his counselor suggested for him to work on the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy workbook, which was originally designed for BPD. She mentioned that she's not at all diagnosing him but felt this workbook would be really helpful for him. Kind of ironic, though, since I've suggested this booklet here to a few different members, and had one on hold for myself to address the anxiety piece.

I think we're heading in the right the direction. I'm curious how these workbooks will fair out, even without a formal diagnosis. Afterall, if the behaviours are being addressed, a dx won't really matter, will it..

My partner took this test. He said the results were bad and didn't "buy this one" as it said he should talk to a mental health doctor or something. So he's chalked it up to being bogus because there were Harry Potter and other off beat quizzes, too.
