I know I would be stupid if I even thought maybe this was something such as Bipolar Disorder, but I can't help but wonder.
I am 15, but I keep having mood swings. Not just tiny ones either, like sometimes I will feel so happy, just wanting to be alive, and I love it, and it seems to almost be triggered by nothing. But a lot more, I am completely depressed and near suicidal, and I don't know what's going on. I used to adjust my myspace page to fit my moods, but when I started switching it about every day (or more) I stopped, and left it on something, I forget. But it's driving me crazy. Sometimes a small argument or just a random comment or word or IDK will make me go into one of the depressed things. A lot of the time, my friends help though, and I feel better, for a while, but then when I have to go home or something, everything collapses. I finally asked my mom a couple weeks ago and she said "well you're a teenager, that stuff happens" but she seemed supportive but I'm pretty sure she didn't take me seriously. I do not like it when people don't take me seriously. That has happened with other things as well. But back to the topic, I need someone's thoughts on this. Is it really just a teenager thing? .....Help please

I was that way when I was a teen and I was sent to see the school psychologist. Do you have a therapist you can talk to? It could just be part of being a teen or there could be something else going on. If it is bothering you then I would talk to your doctor or a trusted adult.

http://www.toddlertime.com/dx/borderline/index.htm Here is one of many places, including PsychCentral, that you could read more about mood swings.
Since your mom seems supportive and you are curious, why not talk with a therapist to see how that goes. Here's a site about therapy: www.guidetopsychology.com. It has a nice Question and Answer section. I like your Kahil Gibran quote ![]() |
