Hey,

I just had a child and went in too the hospital for post-partum, there they diagnosed me with BPD, everything makes sense now, but why can't I deal with it? the only thing i ever think about is suicide and how easy it would be, never having to deal with anything.

If there is anyone out there suffering aswell with this disorder help!

Fubar, those with BPD never had the upbringing that allowed for development that is functional. This is why you have BPD. Now you have to learn. This is how you will get better. You have to understand yourself and where you are at and work from there............

(((((((fubar)))))))) I'm sorry you're struggling so much right now. Please keep any appointment you have with a counsellor or therapist--if you don't have one please schedule one. It's important that you keep up with the things you were doing in the hospital and if the suicidal thoughts don't abate, someone needs to know immediately. Please call a crisis line or help center right away when you feel this way as we here on pc are unable to help in that situation. Don't wait, please take action to remain safe. Know that we are here to support you and help you. PM myself or any community liason or moderator if you ever need to.

Hi fubar, I was also diagnosed quite soon after my son was born. I was also a single mother. I have lived with BPD and schizoeffective disorder for 15 years and as with anything, you kinda gotta take the good with the terrifying. Get the best therapists you can. Take your meds if you need them and keep your eye on the prize. You can be a good woman and mother with this illness. You just gotta get through the suffocating darkness into the light. It will happen. My son is well adjusted considering and believe me, he would not have been better off without me. So stay alive because your recovery and management of your illness rests on the sustenance that your child will give you. They know much more about you than you think and your child will be by your side, fighting the battle with you. You can do it. Get help to fix it and use all your energy to breathe and think with stillness even if you feel chaos. Keep fighting the good fight! We are here with you.
