Could be. I guess it all depends on what kind of memories your mind is playing over and over. Traumatic ones I'm assuming. Otherwise might could be OCD but then I'm not an expert.

Yes, from past trauma. Can't stop them, gets overwhelming.

Intrusive thoughts alone are not enough to say someone has PTSD. I sure hope you don't have this disorder, but if you take the quiz here on site (see above task bar) and find that you just might, you need to see a therapist/psychologist in order to work through those things confounding your life.
The sooner you seek help for that past trauma, the easier it will be to find a life without the intrusions. ![]()

Don't worry about getting another label. Worry about stopping the thoughts. Labels can just be kept secret, nobody has to know but you and therapist.

Whatever is going on I hope you don't give up on your work in therapy. Believe me it really helps a lot. ![]() |

Having these intrusive thoughts playing over and over in your head and not being able to stop them is called rumination. Rumination is a symptom of PTSD, but does not make it a diagnosis.
I wouldn't be so concerned with labeling your experiences at this point. If you have a T, I would suggest discussing this with them. If you don't have a T, I would suggest finding one. These traumatic wounds can scar over and get some pretty thick scar tissue, but inevitably they will always be festering wounds on the inside until your are able to heal them from the inside out. If you don't address them, they will continue to plague your life and they will break open and continue to fester. I live with ruminative intrusive thoughts with my C-PTSD. It can be really exhausting. Take care, and keep us posted if you like. ![]()
