Ok. This AM while watching the sunrise, I watched a small flock of birds swim in the sherbert sky above. As their wings flapped in harmony with each other, I was startled to find my own body pulsate in a matching rhythm! The sensation was amazing - even if it was intense.
Recently I found out that PTSD does make some people have sensitivity to sight or sounds. Has anyone else experienced what I had happen to me this AM? |

Absolutely! Initially it upset me, then I came to appreciate this unusual feeling. Jme, but beautiful things mean so much more to me after years of darkness. I'd much rather have these sensitivities than the intense ones of PTSD episodes... This heightened awareness (sensitivity) applies to the "smeller" as well. One of my triggers is the smell of cigarette smoke and I can smell it on a person a mile away. Before PTSD I did not notice the smell so much, now I smell it everywhere.

Yup!!! Also with colors!!
I like to think of it as the up side to PTSD/dissociation. Sometimes the colors of flowers, and the greens of the trees and the grass are so bold and beautiful. I find this with sound as well. It's nice at times when I can be more aware of the birds singing and the sound of the breeze outside, but it can be a drag when there are loud noises and irritating sounds that make me want to jump out of my undies!!! LOL!!!! __________________ |
