We got a new refrigerator, I call her Midge the fridge.

Nice automatic ice maker. Stick your glass under her chin and and she spits ice into it.

The problem I have with Midge is getting used to the "new" ice as it is being DROPPED into the bin.

BAM!

I must jump ten feet high.

Not very nice of Midge to wait until I have my back to her before she drops another load.

People with PTSD need padded ice bins...

Just a thought,

Petunia Midge

Midge is a rotten brat!! You can tell her I said so!! Midge

Ugh on the freak out factor of a new noise to scare the bejezzus outta ya.

I'm glad your humour is intact Midge

My ma called the manufacturer of her fridge when she opened up the freezer one night and the back was glowing orange and making weird noises! Turns out that is the "normal" defrost/de-ice cycle. Normal? Eek!

((dear Petunia)) and curses to Midge's new trick

It won't be so bad once you have ICE in the bottom... or keep it nearly filled... all you'll hear is the water maybe?

I had to tell you I saw an add for a Fridge that has a TV built into the front .....I had to chuckle when I saw it cause the name Midge came to mind. Who would watch TV standing by the fridge..? lol

Sleeps... there are stock butterfly avatars here on pc...

lol I also wondered about the tv thing. turns out plenty of families don't eat sitting at a dining table but at the counter in the kitchen.. quickly before running off to do something else (rather than sit down and relax to watch a show on tv.) A change in culture I don't like, personally.

My fridge makes this shuddering sound. Scared the heck outta me at night when I was in my room and not close enough to it to realize what it was at first. Now it's just an annoyance.

They make these green pads that you can put in your crisper drawers to keep the food off the floor of the drawer so air can circulate around it. Kind of looks like a giant Scotch Brite pad. Maybe you could find something like that to pad the bottom of the ice bin to cut down on the noise.
