I got a jury summons today. I'm afraid to go on jury duty. I've lead an isolated existance for the last few years due some traumatic events that happened to me about 5 years ago. That stuff only added to my already existing PTSD. Now I get this summons and I have to show up in court even though I desperately don't want to.
I'm hoping that my psychatrist will fill a letter excusing me from this.

There is a significant chance that the lawyers would take you off of the jury because of your trauma history, even if you don't get that letter. Your own trauma history is likely to influence how you would understand the cases that they present, depending on what the case is about.

You know I doubt I will enjoy it. I'm way too anxious and I'm not sure I could even get up for the thing. I'm not just anxious, I'm terrified. To be around all of those people is almost too much.

I would get that letter from your PDoc and then present it to the lawyers, you have an existing mental health condition that would only be aggrivated by the jury experience.

Thanks for all of your wonderful replies.
I got a letter written by my psychaitrist. They sent it to the courts along with the summons. It was no problem.
I still have to deal with anxiety. I find walking a lot helps and posting stuff on the phobia thread also relieves some of it.
