I have been suffering from PTSD for a few years now and go for weeks at a time where I am afraid to leave my home. My two oldest children just announced their engagements within a week of each other, and my daughter is pregnant. I want so badly to have a life with them again. I can't go on like this anymore. I need to find a better way to cope. I read about teletherapy and am interested, but do not know that much about it or how to find a teletherapist, or whether or not that would be appropriate for PTSD. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone tried teletherapy for PTSD?

actually, no. Hadn't even heard of it, but it wouldn't surprise me. I think it would be better than emails only, as "halo" data is important to the T. Did you google it?

Welcome to the forums, Darby. You can find some resources, inclusing teletherapy, if you look in the resource directory on this site (click the link in the menu bar, above). They are probably listed under "e-therapy," Let me know if you need help finding the page. I am doing email therapy, and it was helping, but I really wanted to meet with my therapist in person after a while, so now I do occasionally, even though she's 3 1/2 hours away. One thing that you might want to consider is talking to therapists in your area and asking them if they would consider starting out with teletherapy. As you get better, maybe you'll want to go in person too, and it would be nice to have that available as an option.

Hi Darby,
wish you much hope in your therapy pursuits. I've been counseled thru email journals and it's wonderful. Here's a website reference for you.
