Are you seeing a therapist Kmbpeace1171?
I am sorry your experienceing flashbacks, glad to hear you are getting them under control, they can be alarming and seem to come from no where. And I do think that it is possible that the jerking movement can be body memories. It is sure confusing how PTSD can effect someone, it sure amazed me.

You have to keep in mind that it is only memories that contain emotions and even some physical responses that never really got processed. I know it feels confusing, it did for me as I do remember my past and somehow it is coming back with so many emotions and feelings of urgency and I don't quite understand why.

It is important to not just look at the past or be afraid of it, it is and expression of a need to address the emotions trapped in those moments. It is a need to become aware and finally address something that happened that you never did truely addressed, but just pushed aside and tried to ignore. It is accessing the subconscious to bring it to the conscious so it can be understood and consciously slowly overcome. It takes time to do this, and though the memories will never go away, the emotions and sense of confusion and urgency can be finally let out and slowly soothed and dealt with on a conscious level.

It is very important you work with a qualified therapist that can help you and guide you to overcoming this. It does take time to work through and finally getting to a place where you can overcome these intrusions.

Sometimes my body will twitch like that after a massage session that brought up memories. Massage T said it was the muscle releasing the memory. Dunno.

((((((Kmbpeace1171))))))) Yeah, I know what you mean, it is nice to have people that understand what it feels like to struggle. Some days we seem to gain strength and yet other days we still struggle. While I dont like to see someone else struggle, it is nice to know that someone else knows what it feels like to struggle with PTSD.

Im glad you started counceling, this is something that just doesn't go away by itself.
I kept thinking that it would just go away, and it didn't. No, you have to learn about it step by step and make efforts to understand it and then find ways to recover a little at a time. It is definitely very challenging and very difficult to understand.
But you can get there, with help, you just have to be patient with yourself and be kind with yourself too.

Are you taking any medications? I'm just wondering if the movements could be linked to any meds.

Poor diet can also make muscles twitch. Just a thought.

I've got that too. I've referred to them as muscle twitches or tremors. I'm trying to get into see a pdoc. It sorta sounds like your situation was rather recent, and mine is as well.

And I've got so much going on that it could be a side effect of meds I'm on, a Lexapro withdrawal symptom, a PTSD symptom, poor diet, etc. (I have absolutely no appetite.)

All that to say, I can relate.

Has anyone tried hypnosis to cope, forget, help with the PTSD?

Good Luck!

I have PTSD and am very senstive to things going on around me. I call the so called twitch a startle reflex that is common with PTSD.

I call it a startle reflex too... I jump for no reason at times, especially when I start to relax.
