Hi everyone!

I am a 49 yo femaile with PTSD. A recent event, which I now realize was a "trigger" motivated me to find help. After a couple of false starts with a therapists/programs that were not helpful, I'm hoping that I found a therapist as GREAT as I think she is yesterday.

I don't want to mess with the therapeutic process that has begun, so will not go into detail about the traumas that got me where I am today in this post, but they are far reaching, from age 4 until the present. Things have gotten to the point where I am a slave to the anxiety and the behaviors that result from the anxiety.

Suffice it to say, HYPERVIGILANCE STINKS!

To top things off, I have a 15 yo with several issues (Asperger's, ADHD and Mood disorder NOS), so I think I will be visiting several of the forums in this community. Oh, and I also have an incurable muscle disease! Yay me!

Nice to meet you all. Hope everyone has a peaceful day!

Bummer

(((Bummer))),

Welcome to PC, glad to hear that you have found a therapist that is finally "validating" and "helping" you.

Yes, I hear you anxiety and hypervigilance is such a challenge. However you "can" learn to utilize "tools" that can help you "control" these difficult and often "crippling" emotions that are a part of PTSD.

I and others here also have troubled pasts and we are slowly learning to work "through" our challenges, forgive ourselves, and understand that we can "improve" on our abilities to finally find our way "past" our difficult histories and be healthier in the "now".

Yes, you have a challenge with your 15 year old too. There are also others here that work through that as well. The members here all share their challenges and also what they are learning in ways of better cope as well.

((((Welcoming Hugs to you Bummer)))

Thanks for this!

Hi and welcome bummer. You do indeed have alot on your plate. I have ADD, PTSD, and depression. My son has Asperger's. (sp?) I have told him it is a gift. It gives him great recall abilities and true honesty. It also gives him very good organization. It's all in how you look at it.

I have ADD. I would not medicate it away for anything. It adds an incredable since of creativity. God give us all a gift we just have to see it as a gift.

I hope you make alot of friends here. This is one of the most accepting bunch of folks I've ever met. I'm sure you'll make great friends here. I know I have.
Thanks for this!
