Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is what that stands for. It's supposed to help PTSD. Does anyone know any good sites about it? Or where I could find information? Thank you!

I have heard good things about it, but it sounds too strange to me. I guess the Veterans Administration uses it and they seem to get good results with it.

I am doing EMDR now. I am not a veteran. I was physically and mentally abused as a child. It seems to be working. As I talk with my therapist about traumatic events the emdr stimulates my brain as my therapist goes through the event with the proper outcome instead of what actually happend.

I would not think that this would work but it has helped for me....

I got a question, how does this work with emotional abuse?

i worked as secretary in a mental health office and one of the ts did emdr. i called it the miracle cure. a little boy setting fires, one session, lost the urge entirely. a shopaholic. couple sessions, no more shopping. she glowed. i chased her down to find out what was different about her. basically when a trauma happens, your brain doesnt know how to process it. so all those chemicals created just sit there in your brain, bundled up. anytime anything happens familiar to that bundle, it retriggers that bundle of chemicals. ptsd. emdr, the process you are walked thru, unbundles that and processes it, tells it where to go in your brain. so nothing left to trigger.

I used EMDR a few years ago, and it defiantly helped. Just look for a qualified T, or just do a google search for a little more about this treatment.

What's your reaction?
At my last EMDR session, I switched to a needy alter. Wondering if my T will continue EMDR after that…
