It's been a really long time since I had a bad nightmare like last night. I woke up almost crying this morning and having a panic attack. Boy, it sucked. Just when you think it's safe to go back in the water, stuff happens and triggers your ptsd and the nightmares return.
I guess it's true that it's never cured, just goes into remission. Seesaw Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

I had a T teach me, and it helped stop the nightmares |

No I haven't tried that. I will ask my T about it when I finally get a new one.

Lucid dreaming is when you can realize you are dreaming while you are dreaming and therefore take control of the dream and change it however you want. Essentially you pick something that doesn't happen in real life, like a blue rabbit or a three legged elephant, and you tell yourself just before you go to bed every night that if you see this thing you will know you are dreaming.
It takes a while and patience to get there but eventually you will be in a dream and see this thing that doesn't happen in reality, blue rabbit or three legged elephant or what ever you chose to be your thing, once you see it or feel it you will know you are dreaming and nothing is real. You then have the power to change anything you want. Create objects, fly, fight back, whatever you want. It's really awesome once you get there. I once had a nightmare I was being chased on a beach by someone. I realized I was dreaming and created a box in one hand and a fire extinguisher in the other hand and beat the chaser into nothing. |

I just had a nightmare after a long time where I was free of them. In my case I know it was triggered by something specific from my real life.
Nightmares suck. They stay with you for days. I'm sorry you're having a resurgence. |

Yeah. It stayed with me for a couple of days. And it was really upsetting. But that's just ptsd for you. :-(

I had a new one after starting to work with new T. I screamed myself awake from inside the dream. I didn't make it go away, but I got myself out. Awake, and I watched some comforting videos to calm down.

Yeah, no meds I've tried for the nightmares have helped either.
