Every time there is a new sexual assault case in the news that they won’t let go of due to politics I get really triggered. It brings so much up and back. Talking to anyone about it is really hard because people just want to go into attack mode because it is related to politics.

I’ve really been having a hard time with it and trying to ground myself again.

This happens to me too, so you're not alone. I've been trying not to watch the news but it's hard since it keeps ending up in Twitter feed.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this. I usually try to avoid the news, because I find it depressing (although I don't get triggered).

Exactly. It’s the news, Facebook, Twitter, people talking n general conversation...it’s like it’s just unavoidable.

I am also struggling. My attacks were physical, but they are wrapped up in a lot of the same secrecy and denial that the current news is about. Often stories like this trigger me a little and I acknowledge it and can manage it, but this curren5 stuff is making me a total mess. I am realizing I have to try to go on a total news blackout for a little bit.

Take care of yourself. You’re not alone.

I am also triggered by the more recent news involving an assault.

I started getting triggered when they started talking about everything more openly in the last general election campaigns. However, if did force me to face it more, become more active in the space and talk to others about it. It's amazing how many people think its not really a problem because it isn't discussed. I am now my own advocate.
