Are any of you unable to watch violent TV or movies?

I can handle some sci-fi stuff here and there.

I can't watch ANY crime show--I was a crime victim and it just brings me back to the spot.

I can't watch violent movies.

Hell, I don't even like to got to movie theaters because they scare me so much.

I don't like movies or shows that are violent. I don't like movies that entail battles and people shooting and attacking others in violence using knives etc. either and I ALWAYS hated those kind of movies.

For some reason, any show that stirs the emotions sends me into a panic attack. The IP pdoc who saw this happen said it was a PTSD response. It sucked because it was a good movie.

Yeah, I get rather uneasy with intense shows, too.

I've opted to remain away from certain genres, horror and thrillers, mostly. If they are on, then I casually distract myself from the film. Kind of sucks because I always loved horror/thrillers but now I just can't.

I opt for more comedy and cooking shows.

No more depressing movies for me.

Stop watching them and panic attacks went away.

I used to have c-PTSD and there was a lot of shows I could not watch. There were periods of my life where I didn't watch tv at all because of advertising for violent tv shows and movies could come on at any time. It was my way of taking care of me to avoid such triggers while I was learning coping skills. I still don't watch horror but that might have more to do with the music, horror shows depend a lot of music to scare the pants off of you.

I am triggered by certain ones. I'm especially vulnerable during a mixed episode...had to turn off a show I like this evening. I'm mixed right now and my C-PTSD is very symptomatic.

YES!!!! That's why I don't watch too much TV either. I just get SUPER anxious and just want to read or play around online.
