Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has tried a sensory deprivation chamber. My T wants me to try it (see trauma on top of trauma thread) and I'm willing, I just don't know what to expect.
All I know is that you float in a chamber so that none of your senses are being stimulated, freeing your mind to work without distractions.

First time I hear it being used in therapy. Though everyday I try to disconnect from externals and have just moments of pure silence.

My mind works better when exposed to external signals, but silence has a way of pointing out some things, kind of downloading, something that is more hidden.

Ask your T if you can take acid while in the chamber. I think I would freak the hell out.

I couldn't do it. I have tinnitus, and the ringing in my ears would defeat the purpose.

Acid? Seriously? Lol! I freak out just fine on my own...I'll probably have a panic attack as soon as I enter the chamber. I'm a miģht claustrophobic.

Interesting. I will however, be passing on the psychotropic drugs. I'm crazy enough on my own.

This is my first time hearing of it. It sounds really scary and I would not do it, personally, for the simple reason it would only bring back traumatic memories of feeling "trapped" and alone. Are you going to try it?

I intend to. If I don't like it, I can always get back out.

After decades of living with PTSD, I'm a little more open to try new treatments.
