I learned about the triangle in my daughters counseling session. The three elements work together, and therefore give us an opportunity to bring about change within ourselves, or coping skills. Maybe they don't teach such basics in adult counseling, because I never heard it there! I guess it lines up with the evolution of the human brain, which was described to me.
Sometimes it's difficult to distinguish a thought from a feeling...I dont think I knew the difference until I sat in on children's therapy. I'm learning..better late than never.
My thoughts affect my feelings, which affect my actions.
Feelings affect actions, which affects thoughts...etc.
Knowing about it doesn't always help when triggered, or anxious in a hurry. But knowing how a system works helps me tinker with myself.
Thanks for this!
