A couple of months ago I spoke with my psychiatric nurse about being sexually abused when I was a child. I was having bad flash backs at the time. He said he thought I had PTSD and I agreed with him. He said to wait until doing anything about it because I have been having so much other bad stuff happening at the moment. However I am wondering whether or not I should waste my pdocs time with it or not because I don't have the symptoms all the time. I can go months without having flash backs tho I am always alert! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thx

hi Bipnik, i would mention it if i were you. you don't have to have the flashbacks all of the time for it to need dealing with, they're bad when they do happen, right? and if you're hyper-vigilant all the time, that's a ptsd symptom right there. and if you're anything like me, it's a long time between pdoc apps, so i'd say something next time, let your pdoc decide what if anything should be dealt with atm.
good luck and take care. |

I would strongly argue that seeking assistance for PTSD is NOT a waste of time at all.
And anyway, it's your money and your symptoms, I think you have the right to direct your treatment towards working on them. |

I would definitely mention it. It isn't a waste of your pdoc's time.

Thank you so much for your replies! I really appreciate it! My next appointment isn't until November now so I think I will wait until then unless I have another 'episode'. Thx again
