PTSD and major depressive disorder, severe is my diagnosis. I'm never going to get better. I isolate myself from social interaction, especially if it's anyone I don't know. I suppose that is social anxiety. Well, it seems I'm not alone. I can talk with others with similar issues here.

You are definitely not alone with this. I too have severe PTSD & recently had to leave my work as I was not able to function properly & was getting triggered every day. I couldn't even go into the staff room for meetings as I was overwhelmed. I too isolate myself as it's the only time I feel safe. I've had some EMDR which helped a lot & ive been referred to have some more as I responded to it so well, but I'm on a waiting list!! I also know that the PTSD will never be completely 'cured' but I am working hard on strategies to cope as best as I can.

I only leave my room a few times a month (other than to use the bathroom) so I understand. I only go out to get my rent money on the third, to get groceries, or to go to appointments at the clinic. I am not sure if that is due to ptsd, bipolar, or I am just a hikikomori. I just hate being out in public. Always worrying that people are looking at me, etc. loud noises like engines bother me, and I live in the city. Night time is my refuge, the only time I get fresh air usually. I even avoid my relatives. Can't stand being around anyone. So I know how you feel...

I also have ptsd. I choose one day to isolate. It's a difficult mental illness to have. Going out means that you are strong and brave. Staying in doesn't make you a whimp. Sometimes the world can be cruel, I know! Just don't be too hard on yourself. I also need to take my own advice.
