I made a post way back similar. Sorry if this is redundant.
My application for Military Disability Benefits has finally (only 32 weeks since submission) reached final review. I am eager to know others' experiences with this. (1) what was the decision and if turned down what were the reasons given? (2) what kind of award were you given (lump sum? pension? retraining?)? (3) has your award been affected by the Phoenix Pay scandal? Any other information you can provide would be most helpful. My experience trying to get any kind of information from VAC has been atrociously awful. |

I checked this morning and the status of my application has changed in the last 24hrs. It now shows as 'complete' with a note suggesting a letter is on it's way. Nothing like snail mail in the age of email. That is the Military for you. So now a wait -albeit shorter - is on again. Anyway, crossed fingers and all that. I'll be sure to update the thread once all is said and done. You never know if others out there are sharing the same experience.

No one probably cares but I can now draw this thread to a close. I received th money in my bank today. I am on comprehensive health benefits. I am to be registered for a retraining course in the interest of finding some work. And I am awaiting referral to a psychologist specializing in PTSD. All of these things took for ever to come to pass but once things started rolling, the benefits have been set up rather quickly.
Nov 2016 - application submitted 30 Jan 2018 - benefit received. Go ahead and apply. It is hard I know as the process will bring back difficult memories but I encourage you to do so anyway. I don't look at this as an award or lottery win. I paid for this with my emotional blood. They owed me. |

So happy for you, that you got approved, even though it took a while to process. You deserve whatever benefits you're getting.
