I saw a woman have a seizure

it's the first time I've ever seen someone, lying on the floor, thrashing around like that and unable to breav

Possible trigger:

now I'm alone in my room, and it keeps playing on my mind.

I keep going back to that, and it replays over and over- the screaming, the noise of the medical equipment, the site of that woman

then I think.. what if it's me next?

it's stupid, right?

I've never had a seizure and it's unlikely that I'm going to just suddenly drop and have one

but that's..... scary, and I can't stop replaying it or thinking about if it was me.

No,it's not stupid.

Watching someone having a seizure can be pretty scary. My son started having them when he was about 3 years old, they were pretty terrifying to me.

I never worried about having them myself though, just worried about him.And his doctor told me I was making things worse by freaking out when he had them.

shattered, seeing someone having a seizure can be scary as hell for sure.

I have epilepsy, and had my first seizures in my early 20s. Back then they called them grand mals, now they're call tonic clonics. From what you described, that's what the woman was having. I used to have those back in the day too. They're all different types of seizures.....not just the one you saw. Although those are usually the most scary and dramatic.

But thanks to my anticonvulsants, they're under control.

It might help to educate yourself about epilepsy/seizure disorders. Take some of the fear away, especially since you have no history, and aren't likely to have one yourself. It would also explain what the woman went through, and knowledge could help take away some of the fear. Rational or irrational...fear is still fear and scary is still scary.
