No, I have not.
To elaborate further, have never taken medication for my PTSD or BPD, just heavy and intense therapy and other alternative methods. I only take meds for the bipolar.

Cool, as it turns out I don’t have bipolar, my p doc is convinced I just have ptsd/complex ptsd.

I am not sure if minipress (prazosin) falls into that category but I take 5 mg at night for PTSD.

Don’t you know what class your drug is in?

Must be somewhat of a relief to have that sorted out now.

I knew I didn’t have it but I was willing to stick with my p doc until he figured it out.

No all I know is it helps a good deal so I take it when my pts flares. That's all I need to know right now.

Prazosin is a beta blocker, and it is like a blood pressure med, but it is also used for PTSD. My Pdoc. had me try it, but I am on hart meds, and blood pressure meds, so my system couldn't handle another med that would lower my blood pressure any further, so I couldn't take it.
Thanks for this!

I take propranolol, a beta-blocker to help when I am triggered. If I get around my dad, my BP will spike and I will have tachycardia. I found it to be a much more effective option to benzodiazepines. It is actually part of how I came to be diagnosed with PTSD. None of the other drugs worked. It is a physiological response, that triggers lots of physical symptoms. I will get them without feeling anxious.
Thanks for this!

I would be afraid to take anything for bp or heart unless it was for those specific things.

I do not take a beta/alpha blocker. I’m on an AD and Buspar right now. Not officially diagnosed with PTSD but am starting to work on it in therapy. I may ask my pdoc about but I don’t see a point since the medical treatment is the same as depression/anxiety.

Ok I’ve been living with a dx of ptsd for over a decade.

So, what kind of treatments have you tried? You must have tried various types of treatments since you were diagnosed for more than 10 years ago.

Tried? You mean what I have learned? For more then 10 years ago? It can go into remission and I can still have it however to be fair to the audience I’ve only been working ft for 15 months with ptsd so that is where the challenges lie.

Yes, it can go into remission, similar to any other MI. I have been living with PTSD since I was 12.
I wish you the best luck in your treatment.

I’m sorry but I think I didn’t make it clear that I am not being treated for PTSD anymore, I’m going off my medication. I’m going to talk to my dr next week about beta blockers but I have the feeling she’s going to say she doesn’t think I need them. My p doc is not by the books and I would rather not deal with side effects again. I’m probably just going to tough it out on my own with my CBT skills.
