On July 17 I was going straight through a green light when another driver made a left turn at 55 mph right into me!! He didn't even ask if I was ok. The police came, and they never even asked me what happened. He began telling a web of lies, and the police bought all of it. The police report read that I had made a right turn, and I struck him!! Not true. He struck me!! My car's air bags came out, and my car was totaled. His car was fine. This is mind boggling. My mother and I have been staying up until midnight, in order to call this policeman who wrote the fraudulent report. He hasn't returned our calls. Finally, after numerous attempts and phone calls, our city council person called the chief of police, and he is letting us view the camera footage from the camera at that intersection. It should be mailed to us in a week or two. Meanwhile I could only afford minimal car insurance, so I have been getting around without a car. Very difficult!! The post traumatic stress of being hit, then being surrounded by lies and being accused of something I didn't do, has been extremely upsetting. Anyone been through this? Help!!!!!??

I'm very sorry this happened. Lies are a huge trigger. Along with the trauma of the accident...that's too much to handle. I hope the video of the incident help the police see the truth and you can breath easy again.

JuneRain, Oh how awful. I hope you are able to get it straightened out.
Why were you not able to tell the police your side of the story at that time? |

Liars. Oh, how I hate liars. I would give the benefit to the doubt to anyone who tells the truth, even if it's an ugly truth.
I am so, so sorry this has happened to you. I applaud you for getting the council member involved. Persist! As for only affording minimal insurance - yep, me too. As for not having a car - mine's been at the mechanic for over a week. I'm about to call him right now and ream him, I'm so pissed. |

I've never been through it, but had a friend who was. I'm sorry you have to deal with this all.
As a side note: this is exactly why I have a dash cam in my vehicle. They are not too expensive and provide peace of mind. |

I am so sorry you went through this! I have experienced deception from people in power, it is extremely traumatic. Hang on and know that video evidence does not lie.

i wouldn't worry about a fraudulent report. Accident investigations can tell exactly who hit whom, at what speed, and at what direction. Rest assured the truth will become evident.

I went through it as a teenager, indicating to turn right and an older woman overtook me as I was turning right, claiming that I had not indicated...It became all about Her traumatic experience, she had one young child and a baby in the car and immediately called the husband for support as to what the young person had done for her. Unfotunately, in that area, 40 mins away from the outskirts of the most major city and 30 minutes from a home on a property....no footage available. back in...2003...I was mortified, hopeless, helpless, was scolded by her, didn't know what to do, no evidence....While this was a long time ago, at least there is camera footage around most areas now to draw upon . I hope everything turns out in your favour since you are not at fault. Mant innocent people fall prey to people's stupid mistakes due to demographics such as age, sex, race, disability....not fair and we don't live in a fair world. Fight it my dear!!!!

We talked to our city counsilperson, who talked to the chief of police, who finally let us view the video, of what really happened, that the other driver made a left at 55 miles per hour right into me, while I was just going straight through a green light. My insurance company reversed the initial decision, they saw clearly the accident was never my fault. But the other driver's insurance company isn't reversing the decision. They said we have to get the police to mend their fraudulent police report. (The video shows that the police fabricated everything in the police report)
I am nervous about approaching the police. My Mom is going to first contact the chief of police, who was friendly and let us finally view the video, of what really happened. So, my Mom is doing this with me. But it's very difficult. I didn't have collision, so I still am without a vehicle. __________________ |

I'm so glad that you were able to get the video and that your mom is able to aid and support you. Hopefully the police chief will be able to help get this straightened out. Sounds like the officer was persuaded by whatever emotions were involved with hearing the initial story or was manipulated by a calm concoction? Not sure which.
It's too bad you don't live in a collision mandated state :\ We get to option comprehensive here but not collision. |

I completely agree with you! I had a coworker who went into a twenty four hours coma and had no memory of the car accident. He was blame because the driver who hit him lied he was at fault.

The accident investigations were also fraudulent, choosing to believe the other driver's lies, instead of the video of the truth.

I wanted to bring up this horrific accident again because I just witnessed a similar accident, and it sent me straight back to day one, the horrible memory.

Gosh I am so sorry it worked out against you. How traumatic for you to have gone through all this. It just isn't fair and I imagine that amongst all the feelings that have descended upon you that there is also anger and resentment. I so wish I could make this easier for you.
I feel badly it did not turn out as it should have. You are right to feel peeved that the hope I had given you turned out false in the end. I apologise it was dashed. Please know I care. |

My car was totaled, I did not have collision..I ended up having to take the bus around. But I discovered I enjoy taking the bus, I really love people watching, I have made a lot of friends on the bus, and I especially enjoy being around 'down-to-earth,' folks, people that don't have enough money to drive. I dislike haughty taughty, snobby types, who have it all together...and I have found the people who take the bus......are my people!
