Hi friends,
Lately, I've been having a LOT of stomach pain. So much so that I even got an endoscopy a few weeks ago where they didn't find anything. We are in the process of doing other tests, but my guess is that those won't show anything either. My dietitian, who knows I've been working through a trauma lately, mentioned that maybe it could be functional abdominal pain related to the trauma. Where my brain has been in so much pain that it basically tells my stomach that it also needs to be in pain. It does get worse after a day full of flashbacks and other symptoms. But I've also had stomach pain for forever. It's just never been this bad. Does anyone else have any insight into stomach pain caused by working through trauma, or worsening PTSD symptoms? __________________ Yes. Jesus is the reason I am still alive today. Diagnoses: MDD, BPD, PTSD, OCD, AN-BP (I don't define myself by my personal alphabet up there, but I put it there so that maybe somebody won't feel so alone ) |

I've never experienced stomach pain related to PTSD, but wanted to share with you that from my experience it is entirely possible.
Trauma is stored in the body, and so experiencing physical symptoms is not unusual. For me, I have a spot between my shoulder blades, where when I was doing EMDR for trauma, it felt like I had a rotating ball of knives. It still hurts a lot whenever I'm experiencing trauma symptoms. I wish I could give you some practical advice on what to do aboto do about it, iut it, if it is trauma related, but I've never found anything that worked for my back, except to ride it out. Hope your symptoms subside soon. splitimage |
