I’d like to hear some feedback about what’s going on with me. I have several mental health diagnoses including PTSD and major depression with psychosis. I’d experience very short illusions where I’d mistake something I saw out of the corner of my eye for something else. It’s always something frightening. I’d see photos of family look at me with an evil smile, I mistook moonlight shimmering in a car as a dead body, and once leaves in a drain was a decayed hand reaching out.
I had a longer hallucination once, but at the time, I thought that I was having a reaction to Ambien which I was on at the time. I’ve been treated for depression and psychosis for awhile, and it’s helped, but yesterday it happened again. I mistook a thick pole for a zombie. I’m only slightly depressed right now, so I wouldn’t think that it’s major depression causing these symptoms. The illusions (or whatever they are) just last a second until I realize what I’m actually seeing, but it scares me quite a bit when it happens and I never mistake something for a normal or likely thing. Why would I think that the pole was a zombie and not a tree? Anyway, I’m going to mention this the next time I see my psychiatrist, but I’d appreciate any input! Thanks! |

I agree telling your doctor is the best thing to do. I do appreciate the fact that you're aware that this is a problem. You're able to talk about these things rationally. So I'm sure you'll be able to find a helpful solution to this scary symptom! Good luck!
