Does anyone else have the two combined? I mean PTSD with OCD. I have compulsive and obsessive things combined with the PTSD. I have been trying to sort it out but it's so hard. They are all related to trauma I believe. I have had much trauma starting with SA and then more on top of more. Hard to figure it all out but starting to get a grip on what is involved. I have been through some therapy but have ended it when therapists became problematic; it happens sometimes and more than a lot of people know. They all have issues too like everyone. I do appreciate the good things they taught me.

I have read that a lot of people with PTSD or CPTSD have OCD, too. It is rough, yes. So sorry you both are suffering with both of these. Have you found any medicine that helps? Any particular therapy that works? I had some cbt that really was not helpful. I take risperdal for sleep and to help me be more calm during the day-low doses as I cannot tolerate standard doses. Looking for a new antidepressant I haven't tried already. The SSRIs have made the CPTSD/OCD worse. Only taking 5 mg. of Paxil and the 10 mg. made all my symptoms worse.

I have high functioning autism in addition to OCD and PTSD. Am currently taking Lamictal, Geodon, Inderal, and Xanax. Not sure what's doing what but it seems to work to an extent. For OCD exposure therapy helped, in my case I repressed my early childhood trauma and had exposure therapy for OCD before I was diagnosed with PTSD, PTSD hit later. Though exposure therapy is better for obsessive behaviors versus obsessive thoughts, at the time I had it I was washing my hands so much they became chapped. Currently I go to therapy at a PTSD center, we just talk about the trauma and it helps somewhat but not as much as I'd like it to.

I’ll add my name to the list. I have Bipolar NOS, OCD, PTSD,Recovering alcoholic. After reading a lot and thinking, I do think my ICD developed as a defense mechanism from the abuse that lead to PRSD.
