I never had friends, to start. I can socialize, though. I avoided people as a kid into adulthood, because I saw everyone as a threat. I couldn't trust anyone because of the intense abuse I was facing.
The problem is that people think I'm hiding something because I don't have any friends. Like I'm up to no good? It'll come up eventually. Being 31 now, it seems that I'll have to get used to being alone. |

Dear Ryz25,
I'm so sorry that you don't have friends. I have been in that situation before and it is really dreadful and painful. There must be so many things about you to like and it is sad that others don't see and appreciate those things and treasure you as a person. It is awful that you were abused. So very sorry that happened to you. -- Yao Wen |

I think it's the most frustrating thing because it's judgmental. The internet has filled everyone's heads with half-truths and downright falsehoods. I don't know how many "articles" I've seen that talk about being a human lie detector, or how much armchair psychiatry there is that makes mental health into a derogatory statement. Like Narcissism or Psychopathy. Yeah, they're toxic, but these people are afflicted. What if cancer was used an insult? Oh, he's such a cancer patient. How outraged people would be, and rightly so. People have allowed themselves to become blinded by all of the untruths. I know it isn't my fault. I'm not a bad person. I haven't done anything. I wish that people would question what they see and what they're told a bit more. |

If a child is dealing with intense abuse, it's only normal that child would develop severe issues with trust.

I think its hard because you need to be vulnerable and not everybody is able or comfortable doing that.
