I quit a mental health forum today because I have ptsd and felt like I was being attacked. I had one person come at me with religion and how they think schizophrenics hear voices because they are paying for something they did in life...which is Not True. I had another person give me a tarot card that said she thought I was not letting things go. She happened to have a trigger word in her screen name..pool..so I quit. I was very clear about having ptsd and it was from my uncles brother trying to drown me...she might have not been directing anything towards me but that the way I took it..felt like everyone was coming for me.

I'm sorry you couldn't find a safe space there. I hope you have a better experience here. I'm so sorry for what you went through. That is horrible what he did

Sorry you were triggered. It's important to understand that in a mental health site you can come across others that can be triggering due to their mental health challenges or personality disorders. So their input can be a bit skewed which can be triggering.

Welcome to the club, this has been one of my main impressions using these forums over the last 18 months it was sort of noted early on that I would not achieve actual support during this time but have to plough through the cultural media slug feast alone and make my points about this condition or experience known upon a global platform.

I thank you for writing this as I am not the only one who thought this was the case, so would it be a new cyber abuse trend the perps have now adopted to amuse themselves.

So, would it be a type of street theatre!

Thanks to everyone for replying. Triggers Suck. I wish the world were more balanced and felt more of a safe place to be. Having no empathy here in my real life with no supportive family or friends make the triggers more intense. I had a bit of a breakdown when I wrote this post. Felt like the whole world was against me and not just my family. So low. Thanks to everyone for your kind words.

Some forums are more mobby and perpy than others as you will have a lot of fake profiles during lockdown openly or covertly abusing people through their various methods.

Some are meme-like and triggery and some are just out to dig holes.

Sums up online VH support during the lockdown!!!

1st of all WELCOME! Kudos for moving on and saying ENOUGH! You're right. Any time we open our mouth and appear weak, it becomes a feeding frenzy of people thinking they are knowledgeable. Hugs...
