Possible trigger:
and the only reason they werent doing it in the new country is because they didnt want to go to jail. I wish i had taken them more seriously and acted accordingly, like by leaving.

It shocks me that human beings have customs where they have no respect for life. How women especially can be treated so badly, like slaves is horrible

Seems to me that those people were insensitive to want to know more about your sis when you told them what happened to her.

I'm so glad you and unaluna were able to get away from that environment. I hope more young women can.

As someone who lived through a brutal dynamic within my own family I can relate a little. They felt superior and thought I deserved violence and saw me as less than. My mother also likely abused my brother, but it's hard to feel sympathy for him, given the actions he choose to act out towards me. He was an adult when he committed the worst harm. I left my family of origin because I felt subjected to the ideal to keep up appearances of normalcy. I felt almost punished for not doing so.
