Hello Everyone,
This is my first time on here.. I hope that I do this right.. Well I have been treated for depression for about 9 yrs now.. About 2 yrs ago I was told I had bipolar 2.. they still were treating the depression... Well I went to a Therapist because I got off my Medication.. Because I didn't like how it was making me feel.. As I spoke with the Therapist he told me he believed that I have PTSD.. Well I have always thought that this was for our men and women who go to war so forth and so forth. And as I have researched this and thinking of things in my life.. I have cryed all day.. thinking that I have to bring this up again.. If anyone can give me advice and let me know how they are doing I would really appreciate it... Thank you Corine |

I think there are basically two kinds of PTSD that are recognized. The first, which is caused by one or a few traumatic incidents, may be what combat PTSD is. The other, which is sometimes called complex PTSD, comes from trauma that typically takes place over a long period, especially in childhood. That can take a long time in therapy to treat, but you control the pace, and it may not be necessary to delve into everything, in order to greatly improve.

Thank you, I'm hoping that therapy will help. I thank you for replying to my post.. This is something that I thought I dealt with but I guess I didn't.. Just thinking of things gets me to want to cry..and just hide.. But I truely thank you Corine ![]() |

You might read on the Psychotherapy forum too, to see how others of us are coping with therapy!

![]() Welcome. Please remember that you are the same person with the same struggles that you were prior to hearing "PTSD." It's a good thing to have a therapist who knows what you need, how to help. I'm sure it was shocking, maybe even a bit traumatic to hear it though. ![]()

Welcome Corine,
Its confusing and scary when you start out but a T can help you put everything in its place - just remember to go only as far and as fast as you feel comfortable - some times our T's push us a little and that can be good too - I really hope things get better for you soon P7 ![]()

Yeah, the PTSD diagnoses' is a hard one to bear-but you can&will get through this. You may find yourself remembering things you've forgotten&I totally can relate to the wish to hide-unfortunately your mind goes wherever you go. Definitely stick w/your t&look for some local support groups.

Keeping busy so you dont have to think about it is good -mthats a distraction technique - but remember to bring up things that are worrying you in T no matter how silly or small they seem - sometimes the small things lead to the big breakthroughs!
take care p7 ![]()
