Hi,
I have a 12 week old daughter and an 8yr old son. When we had our son I suffered from birth trauma (PTSD) and severe depression. I spent years recovering, but it was decided that an elective csection gave me the best chance of bonding well with baby. So far things have been ok, I'm very bonded to our daughter, but I am very very anxious. I have noticed the last few weeks I have been experiencing spells of depression that can last 1-4 days, and then a period of elation and some kind of stability before heading back towards depression. I am seeing my doctor Monday but it would be great if I had some ideas as to whether this likely just hormonal or the start/mild pnd? I am very much affected by hormones, I have to avoid hormonal contraceptives as they flare up my anxiety&depression. I'm breast feeding but have had 3 cycles so far. Although this baby has stirred up all of last time again, I don't feel traumatised by her birth experience. Glad I can kind of enjoy them both this time around even if I'm not feeling right. __________________ Terry |

Did you see your doctor and get helpful answers? I hope so! Sorry that I am just now getting to your post, but wanted you to know that I care. Bipolar is a possibility that struck me. I nursed both of my children, and didn't experience any lows or hormonal changes until I stopped nursing. That's when moodiness and depression hit me pretty hard. Seeing as you are nursing, that's what makes me lean towards another cause being the culprit. I hope that you've gotten some answers & relief to these up's and down's ~ very best wishes to you and your family! __________________ "Only in the darkness can you see the stars." - Martin Luther King Jr. "Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace." - Author Unkown |
