I am a 33 year old male who has had bulimia for 15 years. Soon after I became bulimic, I started using alcohol and cocaine on a regular basis. I am so tired of dealing with these addictions that sometimes I feel like giving up. I recently lost my job at a major automotive manufacturer so I dont have medical insurance. So that brings me to my questions......If I go get help, where should I go? Will the hospital be better than a family doctor? Do they prescibe anti-deppressants at the hospital? Should my last option be to check myself in at a psych ward? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know Ohio but here in california u can get medi-cal sometimes 2 cover. And I've known quit a few people w/ no insurance who have gone to what is called County mental health services which can usually b found in the phone book. (u can even look under the federal pages, gov't section)
Otherwise I would just call the dept. of health & human services, any hospital er, or ur old family dr. they all have the info. We also have an organization called United Behavioural Health it's a 1-800 #. You could probably look this stuff up on ur computer.
Good luck

Family doctor would be best.
They could refer you to a mental health professional.
I think you need therapy though, not just medication.
