I just took The Sanity Score quiz. I found it very interesting, but I was disappointed to see that my results did not include the disorders ADHD/ADD. It appears that ADD isn't a part of the screener, meaning, no questions addressed it, and it's not included in the list of possible results diagnoses. That tells me that the creators of The Sanity Score don't consider ADHD as serious as disorders such as anxiety or depression.

I'm a perfect example of why that is SO not true. I have Adult Attention Deficit Disorder in a severe form, and I will tell you that it has wreaked havoc on my life. It's caused me to nearly flunk out of college, lose nearly every job I ever got, create chaos in my home and my living situation, and in general has made my life a nightmare. It does this by causing me to be disorganized, distracted, and unable to focus on getting any goals met or any tasks completed. It's distorted my sense of time, thrown off my sleep, and contributed to my extreme impulsivity. I have no sense of time, and no memory; I can't remember today what I did yesterday, or even this morning. I forget to eat, sleep, and pay bills. I make promises I completely forget a minute later--this has cost me dear friendships. I write things into my calendar and then lose the calendar. I miss Dr. appointments. I make careless mistakes no matter how careful I try to be and how hard I try to pay attention. It disconnects my mouth from my brain and gets me into trouble by my speaking without thinking or interrupting others. Or I get distracted by some thought and stop listening without meaning to.

The core symptoms of ADHD are hyperactivity, distractibility and impulsivity. But these don't really describe the way ADHD manifests itself in day-to-day life. Sari Solden has written at least two books, Women with Attention Deficit Disorder and ADD Across the Lifespan, that paint vibrant pictures of what ADD really does to people. I recommend them as well as many others for more in-depth understanding.

I may have many issues ranging from OCD to depression, but nothing interferes with my attempts to have a functional life like ADHD does. And I believe that issues like anxiety, depression, and lack of self-esteem are actually by-products of the mess ADD has helped me make of my life. You must revise your quiz to include this disorder if you want a truly accurate picture of the test-takers. If you are not familiar with ADHD, please remedy this.

Thank you.
