Folks,
I have a Masters in Chemistry (University of Colorado at Denver 2004) and I can't possibly acknowledge this totally subjective SELF evaluation method as even remotely approaching a valid scientific test. There's an old saying, "the insane person is the last to know that they're insane." If we cannot so much as realize when we're outside the normal range of behavior and perception - then how in the hell can we legitimately evaluate our "Sanity Scale?" We simply cannot! That's why we need psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, and a knowledgeable support group to assist, guide, treat, and help us to manage our mental illnesses. Samuel |

Pretty sure there is no text on the site which claims the sanity score to be a "valid scientific test". Though, if you knew much about psychology, you would understand that there are actually many rating scales that are considered legitimate which use self- rating and are also considered subjective.
I appreciate that you challenge the validity of the test but much of the value of the test actually lays in the repeated self-assessment by the same individual, in my opinion. While it may or may not be valid, if it is taken over time by the same person it is likely fairly reliable. |

Also, to address this:
The vast majority of the time that I am unstable, I am actually aware that I am in fact completely bonkers at the time. That saying represents a partial and outdated view of the experience of mental illness- to say it is the whole truth would be a gross misstatement. |
