What is your thoughts on this med? I have only been taking it for about a week and was wondering how it worked out for others. It hasnt helped with negative thoughts (though havent been on it long to know) and people around me noticed a big different in behaviour in last two days. Anyone else experience anything similar?

I REMEMBER THAT DRUG!! teehee. Actually, I know it by that term, and not it's "American" name, Lexapro. (If you're looking for information, you're likely to get more "hits" on information for searching it by "Lexapro")

This was my first post: http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=49033

Second post on Cipralex:
http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=51051

It worked well. My first antidepressant. Got off of it when I gained a lot of weight... but it DID work. Symptoms at the beginning made me unhappy... verrrrrrrrrrrrry unhappy. But I was on it for a long time after the introductory effects wore off.

DO NOT NOT NOT drink alcohol and take this. I had one drink, felt like four or five and like I was dying... Never again. Gave up alcohol permanently anyhow...

It's supposed to be "weight neutral" (varies from person to person) but it does work pretty well as an antidepressant for a lot of people.

I was on Cipralex for about a year, starting with 10mg then finally working up to 40mg at its peak. I found that it helped in the beginning, but stopped working for me as time went on. Increasing the dosage helped for awhile, but at 40mg (20mg above the recommended dosage on the box) it was making me sleepy all of the time, and just really not working like it should have been, so I got off of it.

While I was on it, though, I had no side effects after the first couple of weeks, and it was great while it worked.

i took this med for about 4 months... 3 months regularly then one month on and off it worked well for the compulsions, panic attacks and some phobias, but i did get depressed. it was prescribed for panic disorder, though.

did not gain weight, but the side effects upon starting it were pretty nasty. nausea, sleeplessness, anxiety getting worse... but that got better in a week.

hope it works for you!

I have taken it for around 4 years.

At one point I tried to switch to Celexa, which was a disaster. Someone told me Cipralex is 'industrial strength' Celexa, so it mustn't have been strong enough.

I found Cipralex good for anxiety, but as time has gone on I do not believe it is working as well. The first time I took it, it was miraculous and I was back to work in three weeks.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I am now off it cuz it spiked bad highs. Apparently I cant take SSRI's... now I am on Seroquel instead... which from what I have been reading is gonna be fun. Been on it for two weeks... was really tired at first, started at 200mg. Dont really know if it has been helping as still having my highs and lows... got doc appointment tomorrow, hope to get more info. Thanks again.
