What's up people. I just found this website, it seems nice

I'm on 80mgs of Lexapro, 1.5mgs of klonopin, and 50mgs of topamax. I take the lex and kpins in the morning, and the topamax before bed. This is for depression/anxiety issues.

I only just started taking the topamax about a week ago. I complained to my psychiatrist that I was getting tired of constantly battling weight gain and extreme appetites that I attribute to the lex, so he prescribed the topamax to curb my appetite (or at least, that's my guess). I am pleased to say that my appetite does indeed seem smaller, although, who knows, could be placebo, it has only been a week.

Anyway, there seems to be a terrible side effect: I had trouble sleeping for the past three nights in a row, even though I am EXTREMELY TIRED! Could that be the topamax, or is it just a coincidence?

Also, I guess this is sort of a separate issue, but the lex and kpins always made me feel exhausted. This can be really problematic for me, as I'm about to finish student teaching, and have a long, hard semester ahead of me. I know that kpins make me sleepy, but I think it's the lex too. Does 80mgs sound like a huge dose? I was thinking about trying to taper off a bit, maybe scaling down to 60 then ten days later 40. Does that sound slow enough to avoid withdraw issues? I know I should probably be talking to my psychiatrist about these things, but he's sort of an idiot; I see him because he accepts me insurance.

Thanks for any info or advice! I want my energy back, and these sleepless nights are NOT going to work.

I'm not a pDOC but I have taken lexapro. Yourdoze does seem real high to me. I was on 20 in the am. I was also on 1 mg of klonopin at bedtime and 50 mg of topomax at dinnertime. This seemed to even things out so I didn't get so tired.

I was on 150mg of topomax at bedtime. It totally knocked me out, deep sleep. It's didn't do anything for my appetite. I was just taken off of it and I have so much more energy.

Hi,
I was on lexapro too, and as far as I know, 80mg is a really high dose. The max recommended on the box is 20mg per day. I was on 40mg per day for about eight months (my pdoc said he maxed it out at 40mg/d) and I was exhausted all of the time, too. I got off of it, and do have more energy.

If you find your pdoc to be lacking in the helpfulness department, maybe get a second opinon from another one who takes your insurance? I wouldn't advise changing your meds around without discussing it with a doc first.
