I've been on 30mg of Citralopram. Last weekend I took my medication 4 hours late and took it accidentally with wine instead of water (they were both clear). At this point I had already drank 1+ bottle of wine. I've had a horrible headache since then. Would this be because of the alcohol? Anyone ever have this happen? I usually can drink 2-3 glasses of wine without getting a headache.
Any input is helpful. Thanks!! |

(Since you say hugs needed. )
Yes, that would likely be a good reason/cause. Most antidepressants or other such drugs have warnings to not mix with alcohol because it can cause a whole host of symptoms and problems... If you've still had a headache though for an entire week though... (is that what you're saying?) ... GO TO THE DOCTOR. Having a headache for that long is NOT normal nor healthy nor good. __________________ |

Sounds like you mixed two ingredients that should never be mixed.... give yourself the week to get the body back to its usual self and drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out of the body.

I dunno..I drank so much when I was on citalopram and yes I did have some headaches and hangovers, but they were due to the alcohol and dehydration, not the combo with citalopram. I say this because even before I was on citalopram my post-drinking symptoms were the same-no more or no less headaches, etc.

I would be real nervous about combining any psych drug with alcohol. Call your doctor to rule out a headache for other reasons. Please let us know how you are doing!
