Okay, so now that my system has gone into shock from eating again, how much of the Lexapro will be absorbed? It's new and I am still on a half dose for another week yet before I start taking the full tablet.

I don't know, Inky, but I have to go to the pharmacy to pick up my Lexapro refill today. Do you want me to ask my pharmacist (always easier to ask a delicate question if it's "for a friend"!)

This is a common side effect of SSRI antidepressants. SSRI's work on serotonin, however most of the serotonin is in your gut, not your brain. The SSRI is distributed all over your body by the blood, thus its effect in the gut. This is a time-limited symptom that should pass in a few days to a week.

I probably should have mentioned that the diarrhea (and several other health problems) are related to that refeeding syndrome. I kind of like didn't eat and such for a couple weeks. I get anorexic like sometimes. I just started eating again last weekend, Sunday night my first real meal. I ate again Monday night and that's when the diarrhea hit. I was already peeing lots and still am. But, I did eventually take some Immodium to stop the diarrhea.
