I don't know much about bipolar but a friend just went through an awful experience with celexa (citalopam). I'm pretty sure I've read that some anti-depressants can trigger mania in bipolar. You may want to ask around about a-d's and bipolar in the BP forum.

Antidepressants can send a person into mania, as George said, if one is predisposed to bipolar. Personally I would stop taking the citalopram until seen by the mental health team - I'm surprised that your dr didn't suggest that! I think it's important to take the zopiclone at night to get some sleep to try and come out of the mania. Mania can be disastrous in terms of spending, promiscuity and relationships with others so you need to try to find ways of calming yourself rather than chasing the high, tempting though it can be.
All the best, *Willow* |
