I am not sure why, other than I get bored with things easily, but I decided one day to quit taking my Wellbutrin. I was on 300mg a day. I know that it is suggested that you gradually ween off of them, but I just didn't take it one day and haven't for about a week.
I have been feeling fine, no effects until the past two days. I feel very edgy and easily irritated. I don't know if it is the meds finally out of my system or if it is all the things that are going on in my personal life like a death, financial issues, fighting with my husband, etc.

If anyone has any information, please let me know.

I know I should call my dr before stoppiing meds, but I always feel like I am bothering them with what feels like to me is trivial things. My doctor in no way makes me feel like that. He is al awesome dr, it is just me. I guess I prefer to deal with things alone than bring anyone else into it. Dunno!

Just noticed how rambled this is so I just hope someone san give me some advice or info..
Thanks!

Krystal

Hi,

Please call your Dr. and tell him about the med and how you're feeling. It can take a week for meds to work out of your system and the side effects can be pretty bad.

Please let us know how you're doing.

aidaleigh, I've heard that it is easier to come off of Wellbutrin than the SSRIs or SNRIs. But I agree you should call your prescriber. Ask him/her what you can expect and what to do if you have any problems. Everyone reacts differently.

I am on 150 mg Wellbutrin (I was on 300 mg at one time). I stopped taking it and one other med I am on for about 4 days because I wanted to see the effect on my BP. By about the 3rd day I felt really, really depressed. This really caught me by surprise as I had not expected that. I don't even take Wellbutrin for depression, really, but for another reason. The quickness of the depression was notable and the depth also. I had suicidal thoughts and I am not suicidal! I have a lot to live for, had not considered suicide before beginning to take this drug, etc. So I now view this drug with more respect. When I do decide to stop taking it for good, I will use a taper plan.

I didn't have a problem stopping the Wellbutrin. Effexor on the other hand WOW. How long has it been since you've stopped taking them? What you're experiencing may be less of a side affect of withdrawal and more of not being on a mood stabilizer.

It can be different for everyone. Just make sure you are being monitored. If you are the only person who knows be very careful. I did the exact same thing and I experienced awful physical symptoms. Very nauseous, shaky, dizzy. The worst symptoms began about a week after quitting them and ended a week later. My T knew what I was doing (not approving of course), but remained very helpful for transitioning emotional feelings.

i had a friend in the psych ward who amused himself regularly by commenting how we like to be our own lab rats. Why is it so hard to leave the science to the scientists and just be the rats? If you're your own lab rat it's time to get scared. Don't experiment on yourself just trust your doctor when he tells you this is what you need and taper down if you really feel you need to come off of it.

With regards to everything else going on in your life, yet another great reason not to stop your meds.

Love and Hugs,
Tara

I take 300 Mg of Wellbutrin a day. A few months ago my doctor wanted to try and switch me to a different antidepressant. I got really depressed after a few days and had to go back on it.

I've heard of several people change from one AD to another and they were always weened off of one as the other was increased. As others above suggest, probably calling the m.d. or pdoc is best.

Also checked "The Pill Book". It suggests slow reduction and that it takes about 2 weeks to get out of the system.
