Talk to your doctor. Zoloft and Paxil are good for preventing the attacks. The down side is that you have to take them one to two months to feel the full affect, but to me it is worth it.

I think Amitriptyline is supposed to help. My MD gave me both it and Temazepam (same class as Klonopin and Xanax) but the Amitrip just made me feel weird. Leaden and sleepy, but weird. Everyone's different though. Now I'm on Temaz and Lorazepam most nights. They, like Klonopin, are only meant to be used temporarily because of the habit forming problems. But darnit, they work best for me.

Thank you for the replies .. it helps.
i have tried Paxil but was not good for me .. thinking that Zanax for the attacks only may be better .. not certain though.
the triptalizes i have tried did not help .. i am mostly treatmet resistant anyway .. although i thought it was only to depression meds - now seems to be anxiety med also. klonopin worked well for me although i may have been prescribed to much .. since withdrawing from klonopin (which was stopped suddenly in the hospital ) i am finding that alot of my memory of the past 3 yrs are horrible .. i cannot recall many things.
yet the anxiety is high and i need something to help it..

I've been on 3mg. a day of klonopin for six months, saw my doc yesterday and he wants me on it for the long term. It works well for in combination with citalopram (celexa).

Well Klonopin made me feel like I'm was in a bad mood. So the doc put me on Xanaxs. They help but they make me super tired. I'm gonna ask my new gp about Valium, I got it for my spasms in my back after an ER visit (I thought I was having a heart attack...typical for me) Well anyway I found that it works way better than Xanax and it does'nt make me feel as loopy. It also works quicker and lasts longer so i don't have to take 2 when an attack starts.
