I'm on 40mg of Cit and I feel like I'm starting to get the flu/cold. I already have a sore throat and headache. Does anyone know what I can take that is safe? I really don't want to call CNP on a Saturday.
Please help!!.. I'm already doing Vitamin C drops. |

Citralopram is a class of drug called an SSRI or a selective seratonin reuptake inhibitor. When I take SSRI's, they interact with antihistamines and make me hyper. But that's just me. To the best of my knowledge, most SSRI's (including citralopram) are not contraindicated with the ingredients in most cold medicines. The problems with cold medicines are usually a type of antidepressant called MAOI's or monoamine oxidase inhibitors, like Nardil or Parmate. Citralopram is not one of those. Also, certain blood pressure medications do not mix with cold and flu medications. Actually, if you are taking blood pressure medication, you should ask a pharmacist about taking cold or flu medication because it can raise your blood pressure.
Just to be on the safe side, ask the pharmacist when you go to buy the cold and flu medicine. But I'm pretty sure that this information is correct. Hope you feel better. __________________ Vickie |
