I am on 50 mg of serequil for sleep and also to raise the effectiveness of my dose of effexor. Now when i take the seroquil, i still have a time falling asleep and an even harder time waking up. Does not matter how loud my alarms are or how many alarms there are. Even when i do wake up, i sound like i have been drinking. I have tried ambian for sleep with a higher dose of effexor and that stopped working. Have tried abilify which sucked...made me irritable. I know the effexor works but does anyone have any options that i can run by my pdoc?

How about Lunesta or desyrel (trazadone)?

I had good results with trazodone (desyrel). I took 50mg at bedtime, and I slept pretty well. There was a bit of a hangover effect in the morning for the first week or so, but it went away. If I didn't leave enough time for sleep, though (ie; at least 8 hours) I had trouble waking up.

That's strange, I take 1000 mg of seroquel a night and it has no effects on me other then doing what it's meant to do.

Lunesta can be very good if you take it right. The instruction: "do not take with or after meals," however, means what it says! billieJ

Heya Nucking
I am late at seeing this...but Restoril seemed to always do the trick for me back when i used it.No hungover feeling in the AM at all.Seroquel was aaawwfffuuulll for me......i went down to the lowest dose,12.5mg and i was still completely zombified the next day.Rozeram was a good one...nice solid sleep, said to be nonaddicting but OMG.....the headaches in the morning made me want to literally slam my brain into a wallRight now i am pretty much using simple ole benadryl when i need it.......sleep usually isnt the problem its getting up and having to deal with life the next day.....
Good luck, let me know how it goes
