Hi I take a low dose everyday at night to help calm my mind and sleep all through the night. I was wondering if anyone takes a low dose of seroquel. Does a low dose of seroquel everyday cause a person put on weight? Or is it just in higher doses. Does anyone know?

CRYSTALROSE,

from my experience with seroquel, the low dose did not put weight on me like the high doses did. Sending good wishes. phoenix47baby

Hello Crystal Rose:

Please check out the following link:

It does contain what you are concerned about on page two, but not sure about the dosage quantity!!!

Hi Crystalrose. I used to have a low dose of Seroquel for sleep. I did put on some weight at the time, but don't know if it was the Seroquel or (more likely) the depression.

I used the Seroquel prn (as needed). I don't mind being up at night, and even rather like it, so I only took it on nights where I absolutely felt like I needed to sleep.

I'm on the Emsam Patch now (for depression), so can't take Seroquel anymore. But, anyways, yeah, I think that you might experience a bit of weight gain if you take it regularly; but I could definitely be wrong.

Right after I went through the trauma, I was on 600mg at night so I could sleep without the nightmares.....I had lost so much weight from the trauma that I was hospitalized for IV nutrition, so any weight gain was needed....however during that time & with the stressful feelings, I never gained weight for almost a year after that.

After a few years, I dropped it down to 25mg at night so I could sleep....the problem even with the 25mg was that I couldn't wake up the next morning with out that hung over feeling all day.

Right now I have a few of the 25mg left over & only take it when I am really desperate for sleep. It may have the weight gain aspect, but I know for myself, the other parts of me tend to counteract that weight gain & end up with just a stable weight....but each person has very different reactions
