I am on Wellbutrin and have been doing okay on it but my PDoc wanted me to take prozac with it(my mom takes prozac). It made me sooooo sick, so I couldn't do that. He decided Lexapro would work also(that is what I use to take, quit because it didn't stay in my system very long), so now I tried that and it made me sick too. I'm not sure how to take them both and not get sick. I take them with food in the morning...any ideas.

Are you sure the sickness isn't due to side effects?

sick like as in I can't keep anything down. So far it has always happened about a half hour after taking them, and I can't detect any other side affects.

Let's see, first I'd ask if you're taking them with food? And, believe it or not, it matters if you take them BEFORE or AFTER you eat that food. (Honest: for a while, I had to take one of my meds just before I ate breakfast -- sit down, take pill, pick up fork, etc -- and the other AFTER eating my egg, BEFORE eating my toast...)
Also, try taking the Wellbutrin in the AM and the SSRI in the PM. Especially with Lexapro, I'd think taking it a little before bedtime might be a good choice. (Made me sleepy, at least.) The bottom line, though, is to talk to your doctor. SSRIs can cause GI troubles, but those effects tend to fade after the first couple of weeks. If you can get through those first couple of weeks, you should be OK. Good luck.

Hi, I would suggest to contact your pdoc right away if this is happening with each dose of the two medications together daily. It is important to let the pdoc know of this as if the meds are being vomited half hour after the dose, most likely there not 'in your system' at all or at a theraputic level. I would say that is very important for your pdoc to know, since many meds stay in the body for days or weeks before any problem as depression show up from lack of meds. Your Pharmacist may also be able to offer better advise on an individual level. If you have not been checked by a MD for like stomach problems which may cause this as well. I have GERD and a Hiatal Hernia sp? which I have to take prescription medicine with my other meds due to a physical problem with my stomach. Either way I would seek professional assistance with this as soon as you can. Take care and hope you are able to get this worked out.
