I feel sooo much better when my Dr. put me on Abilify. No more racing or not as many negative thoughts. My question is though is it a good idea to stop taking Abilify now that I feel better? I don't like to be on meds but I'm afraid to stop taking them for fear of my thoughts coming back tormenting me. Btw, I also have depression.

Hi KittyKat, it isn't a good idea at all to stop taking the Abilify without talking to your doctor first. Plus the fact you are feeling better is wonderful to hear. I hope it contines.

You know. If it is working, why mess with a good thing? (This is a hard one for me to accept, but I know it's true.)
Thanks for this!

Glad that you are feeling better but farmergirl has a point. I hate taking pills as well, but if you are feeling better that means that they are working. Dont mess with it. Go with feeling better

The amount of time I have been where you are ! To me its a false sense of security ....

You feel bad to take meds, meds make you feel better so you stop taking the meds, you then start to feel bad again so back on the meds you go lol....

Best to stick with the safe sure route in the first place, if your happy where you are why rock the boat ?

Trish.

PS I too am on Abilify and fine it works great at stopping the head from talking to you.

Thanks everyone for the advice! That makes sense that if it's working why mess with it. Has Abilify caused any weight gain for anyone? With me, it seems like I'm eating a lot more and then I read you could get diabetes. So now another worry about the side effects.
