Went on weekend trip...packed meds in luggage. Got back from trip on Fri night and meds and a gift of tea were not in luggage! I thought I had left them at neices who returned with me. She checked when she got home today...nada! Had to go from Friday to tomorrow without anything (had to order refills over phone and will not be here until the pharm opens tomorrow). Tried to hang in there but feeling brain zaps and anxiety and starting to panic. Was taking 225 mg Effex, 900 mg Lithium, 100 mg Seroquil. Have slept very little. Scared...what will happen since I had to go through this. I do not travel much and did not think to lock my luggage! Ack! Withdrawl sxmptoms getting worse! How long will it take to level out once I get back on meds tomorrow? Anyone had to go without meds for a few days? Any advice to get me through the long, dark scarey cold night ahead? Am even going to just not respond to other posts outside this forum for fear of posting anything inappropriate to anyone. I will respond to feedback here

Oh, that really sucks, NF. You know, I have never thought about storing an emergency few-days supply of everything somewhere in the house. What a lifesaver that could be.

All I can say is that when I have gone off meds and discovered (the hard way) that they were really helping, just starting them up again could be surprisingly fast to get me back to "normal." I hope this is the case with you!

I wonder if someone thought the tea was dope. As for the other stuff, I'd think the only med with "fun" potential would be Seroquel, and even that...meh, it doesn't really seem recreational!

OMG, NF how awful. I am so sorry this happened. I always carry my meds in my carry on because I'm simply terrified that this very thing would happen. I am simply appalled. Do you think a hospital pharmacy could help you out? Geez..........

(((NF))))))))

I packed my meds in my carry-on luggage with me on the plane (I've been on vacation until today actually). I admit I was paranoid about someone taking them. Not because I'm afraid horribly about the side effects (however unpleasant) but because it makes things more complicated and messy if someone gets their hands on the prescription and then tries to do something illegal with it. (Who knows what some may do... )

You SHOULD theoretically be fine, but the anticipatory anxiety you're feeling isn't very fun to deal with. I've been there.

In the future, it is a good idea to store an emergency supply of a few days worth of meds somewhere in your house, in case you forget to refill a prescription or misplace a bottle or something temporarily.

You've already survived the weekend, which is great. In the future, perhaps looking into having the pharmacy give you a temporary emergency dose. They'll do that, especially if you're taking meds that are important to not miss a dose of! Otherwise, going to a walk-in clinic and explaining may be quicker than anything else. Or calling the prescribing doctor who gave you the prescription, then they may be able to call the pharmacy and convince them to give you some pills immediately.

Overall, going coldturkey isn't pleasant, but it's not necessarily life threatening. It's just not cool and can lead to complications and is based on a whole bunch of other random factors. When I forget a dose, I sleep the withdrawal effects off. It usually takes 24-48 hours to feel back to where I was before, but no more than that.

Just wanted to provide closure on this thread. Feeling much better today already! No more headaches, no more brain zaps and I actually got some sleep last night! It is going to take a few more nights to get that squared away. I would really like a cup of tea right now...sigh. Well it is nice to know that there is probably an airline employee out there smoking a bowl of Earl Grey tea right now. LOL
Thanks for this!

Bought some more Earl Grey. Hope our theif doesn't get sick trying to smoke it. I do feel manic...sent my ex a nasty gram. I would never do that unless I was manic. Manic alert. Awe damn, promised my sister I wouldn't act on my impulses until I called her. Sigh. Grrr.

It happens. I had my pain meds in my purse and they were taken! IDK if it was from being in the shuttle at the airport, or if it was when the purse went through the scanning machine and then tossed into a bin...
Yeah, having an extra stash as emergency is good. However it appears that flyers will have to have all medications labeled etc...so that stash has to be in a proper labled container.

I have to do mail-order meds due to husband's insurance, but they changed mail-order med co. so I got the bright idea to order refills on everything w/OLD company before they were not the meds co. anymore & then again w/NEW COMPANY so I have a 3-month supply of meds in reserve. Government actually says to have a reserve of meds like that (as well as water, hygiene items, food, etc.), but you can't do it w/ins. companies watching dates of refills--pretty insane! So I should have extra meds for some kind of terrorist attack, but can't get it "legally" w/insurance co. regulations! I always carry my meds w/me on the flight & have a copy of the scripts the doc wrote as I do take "controlled substances."

Funniest thing is that I was pulled out w/the TSA guy asking if I had "powder" in my carry-on. I said, "No" as I don't wear make-up so I'm thinking powder you use on your face, but I DID have about 6 bottles of spices that I can't get where I live but could purchase where I was on vacation! I didn't think of that! So got flustered & started telling the TSA guy about the recipe I needed the spices for!!

Now I am somehow "marked" as we fly at least once a month & I am ALWAYS pulled out for special seaarching!! I'm a middle-aged, dumpy female! Husband just says to shut up or I'll make it worse!!

Had something similar happen to me. A limo was stolen the same night I ordered a limo for my best friend. Cops stopped our limo. We were shocked when they found pot on the driver. We were not searched, but the cops asked me if I was working. I told him unless riding to a restaurant in a limo was a job. I did not realize what he was asking was are you a prostitute? When I found out, I was floored.
