Due to allergic reactions, I'm now on atarax. With that, and other meds - celexa, seroquel, risperda - will all these meds make me extra sleepy, or am i sleepy cuz of time zone changes?

That's hard to pinpoint, can be both. If you recently changed to another time zone that term "jet lag" may be an additional factor.
I use to take celexa, never made me tired. The other meds you mentioned I haven't had, so I do not know their side effects. Many allergy meds can cause drowsiness too. In the begining of taking meds. common side effect you can count on reading on the med sheets, is fatigue or drowsiness, then they claim those symptoms will gradually go away as your body gets use to the med. If you can, contact the prescribing docs and ask them about them. I personally hate when meds cause me to be drowsy during the day cause I do a lot of driving during the day, so I had to change my med to one more suitable to my lifestyle. A change can possibly be mad for you, if you start to have a "drowsy" problem, ask the doc. I wish you lots of luck with this. I wish one of our pharmacologists or docs were around now, we all have questions that answers or some insight would be most appreciated for sure ![]() Take care, DE

I know for sure from working in pharmacy that Atarax and Seroquel will make you sleepy, and I *think* that Risperdal, too. No wonder you are tired! You might want review with the doc just to make sure, but also remember that benefits outweigh the cost--how do you feel?

Thanks (((DE)))) I also wish that one of our pharmacologists or docs are around. Like you said - sleepiness could be both meds and jet lag. Been through at least 6 time zone changes in the past 2 weeks. During that time, and even now, I skipped some meds, but still sleepy, though not as bad as when I'm on all the meds.
I see my shrink tomorrow and see what he says. He doesn't know I'm taking atarax, since that's from my family doc. |

Well, I've stopped taking atarax, but I'm still sleepy, especially in the afternoon. Not good when I'm working.

Seroquel means MAJOR sleepytime (at least in low doses). Also I was wondering if you drink enough water--the "almost dizzy" feeling is what always lets me know that I need more water--and with seroquel it seems that I need more than I used to.
Just a few thoughts.. |

You're probably right - I don't drink enough water. I'll drink more.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I sometimes take imovane to help me sleep. Every once in a while, I have a hard time staying asleep (before taking risperdal). Guess I'm a walking drugstore ![]() |

yup, seroquel makes me super sleepy too - and quite drunken feeling, that "woolly head" thing you mentioned - it's like i can't focus properly. and when i wake up in the morning my mouth is like the sahara - really really dry, so rehydrate. although my pdoc said to me that it's best to sip water slowly and let it sit in the mouth before swallowing, because the seroquel doesn't actaully dehydrate you per se, it just gives you dry mouth. if that makes sense...
also risperdal made me quite sleepy, i seem to remember. a combo of both - i'm surprised you are ever awake :P

OK. Now things are a bit different. I get really sleepy in the morning, but in the afternoon, i get pretty irritable. Does that mean I need to take another one around noon? Seems like I'm either sleepy/dopey, or irritable.
