When I started on Effexor and taking it in the morning with food, I slept all day. I mentioned this to the pharmacist and he suggested taking it at night. I asked my doctor and he gave me the OK.
Effexor's handout specifically says take with food and when I questioned my Dr. he said it was to help with some of the digestional side effects. When I started taking it at night with food, I found the blood sugar in the food was keeping me awake. One night I decided to try it without food and not only was I able to sleep without a sleeping pill, but I woke up the next morning without the nausea that I had been having (less of a problem than not sleeping or sleeping too much ![]() I hope this helps someone else who may be having side effects. Currently my only side effects are muscle twitches in my legs.....nothing too major and nothing my Dr. is worried about. |

I'm glad to hear that you were able to find a way to eliminate some of the side effects. How long have you been taking Effexor?

I take Effexor XR twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. Which doesn't make much sense since the pills are supposed to be 24 hrs. But it works for me.
Medicaitons are all about finding the right combination and the right dosage. Unfortunately, most of the time with psychiatric drugs, it's a lot of trial and error. |

I agree with Queen, it's all trial and error until you find the right thing for your own body. I take Effexor XR, Abilify and Ambien, I take all doses at night at bedtime and sleep well and don't have any bad side effects during the daytime. P, tells me to take the Effexor in the morning, but I usually sometimes forget so I take them all at night. works for me.
