Hi,
I have a $3,000 yearly limit on my insurance. That limit is for c0-pays AND the price the insurance company pays the drug store.
I take several prescription drugs but for example Xanax. I have my PDoc give me generic, but it in no way seems as strong as the brand name I used to get. He agrees and wants to give me brand names. I went to WalMart and they told me I needed a prescription in hand for them to divulge the price. Now, I really can't ask my PDoc to give me two controlled scripts one dispense as written and one not.
Can someone please give me the ball park price of brand name Xanax 0.5MG and the quantity I take per month is 210. In addition, if anyone has the Xanax brand name price for the XR version, that would be great! I hate taking so many individual pills. I really don't know why he does not give me a 1.0MG instead of all the 0.5 MG pills?
Thank you.
John

You can go to Walmart's website and look at the $4 script list.
I take the generic Xanax and it's fine. Maybe your doc could prescribe a higher dosage?

The price will depend on where you buy them. You can call pharmacies and ask and they will tell you, but you will need to know the name and the strength and the frequency the med is prescribed.
Thanks for this!

It's so hard to get prices. Online pharmacies will give you prices but they can vary wildly compared to regions of the country, overseas etc. I get some prescripts from Canada over the internet, generic is by far the cheapest....but label drugs are cheaper than most (if not all) US distributors. I get the generics and haven't had a bad experience yet.........but....buyer beware.......

If you call walmart and tell them the drug, dosage, etc. they will tell you the price. I've done it a zillion times. Walmart's not always the cheapest though.

I found the higher the mg, the higher the co-pay. I found the depression meds are very expensive overall. you can always ask your Pdoc for some samples.
